Moretz's Mountain Orchard & Farms is a third generation family farm founded in 1933. We grow over a hundred varieties of apples, both heirloom and moderns. We also grow blueberries, huckleberries, raspberries, blackberries, cherries, pears (European and Asian), plums, Goumi, Quince, persimmons, paw paw, and peaches and nectarines if the weather cooperates. Produce we grow includes potatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkins and winter squash. We offer dried apples and dried sweet potatoes. We have 2 production fields one in Watatuga where we grow the fruits and berries and some produce. And one in Wilkes (Miller's Creek) where we grow our sweet potatoes, potatoes, garlic, winter squash and pumpkins. Watatuga facility is about 10 miles from the food hub and the Wilkes is about 40 miles. Our mission is to provide a local and nutritious product and help preserve farmland in our area. We hire seasonal farm and market helpers.

Practices
We use the safest inputs possible, sometimes organic and sometimes conventional, but only when needed. We are a labor intensive farm which helps lower our impact on the environment. We use no-till and grass strip buffers on the down hill side of plowed fields to preserve soil. We also use mulch for some of our field production to preserve soil.
