About Us
Jonathan Whitesides is a first-generation farmer and began growing crops to sell while in high school. He expanded his farming into a fulltime career after graduating from Virginia Tech, slowly growing his farm to produce sweet corn, strawberries, straw, potatoes, and green beans. In 2026 Jonathan expanded into growing tomatoes, watermelon, and cucumbers. Located in Meadowview, Virginia, Jonathan’s focuses on providing quality produce that is picked daily and sold directly to consumers.
Practices
Jonathan follows current recommended practices for ensuring sustainability, ground maintenance, soil quality, and crop freshness. The farm uses Integrated Pest Management, spraying on when necessary and following guidelines established by the EPA. This includes the minimal use of herbicide to allow plants to flourish. All practices keep in mind the safety and health of the food produced, the land used, and the customers who purchase our product. Crop management includes cover cropping, soil aeration, low-drip irrigation for the plants that require it, and picking methods to ensure freshness of the vegetables.
