About Us
The Patterson School Incubator Farm is located on the Patterson School Foundation’s 1400 acres in
beautiful Happy Valley, between Lenoir and Blowing Rock. The agricultural history of this resource-rich
property is phenomenal. The first elected NC Agricultural Commissioner, Samuel Legerwood Patterson,
bequeathed this land to become a school for mountain boys to teach agriculture and industry. The
Patterson School Incubator Farm honors our founder, his gift and legacy.
